The bill would require the office, no later than one year from the date the final selection of host cities is made, to enter into a memorandum of understanding with the cities hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup games, the chosen host committees, and with other necessary parties to implement those safety and security activities. The bill would repeal these provisions on January 1, 2027. The California Constitution requires the state to reimburse local agencies and school districts for certain costs mandated by the state.
