Existing law requires that the board be composed of 9 members, 2 of whom are public members that are not licentiates of the board, another healing arts board within the department, or any board referred to in the Chiropractic Initiative Act or the Osteopathic Initiative Act. Existing law vests the Governor with the authority to appoint 7 of the 9 members and vests the Senate Committee on Rules and the Speaker of the Assembly, respectively, with the authority to appoint the 2 public members.This bill would specify that, in addition to the enforcement and administration of the act, the board is vested with other regulatory duties of the act. This bill would permit an appointing authority to remove the member or members of the board that they appointed at any time.
