California Fairgrounds Appreciation Month.This measure would designate the month of May 2022 as California Fairgrounds Appreciation Month and would extend the Legislatures warmest regards and appreciation to the thousands of volunteers, fair directors, staff, business supporters, and sponsors who keep the network of California state fairgrounds strong, vibrant, relevant, and successful.Digest Key Fiscal Committee: NO Bill TextWHEREAS, Californias 76 state fairgrounds serve the entire state, from the County of San Diego to the County of Del Norte, and from the County of Monterey to the County of Mariposa; andWHEREAS, California state fairgrounds attract millions of visitors for fairs and events; andWHEREAS, California counties enjoy the year-round economic, recreational, cultural, and social impacts of the fairgrounds; and WHEREAS, California state fairgrounds expend and generate hundreds of millions of new dollars for nonprofit organizations, youth organizations, cities and counties, small businesses, and the states General Fund; andWHEREAS, Due to the effects of COVID-19 and wildfires, California state fairgrounds were again pressed into service for COVID-19 medical sites, staging for emergency equipment and emergency personnel, and fire evacuations to assist those displaced by the wildfires that ravaged the state; andWHEREAS, California state fairgrounds provide safe public facilities specifically designed for animals, pets, and livestock during good times and bad; andWHEREAS, Californias 76 state fairgrounds continue to serve as the recreational, social, and economic hub of their respective communities; now, therefore, be itResolved by the Assembly of the State of California, the Senate thereof concurring, That the Legislature hereby designates the month of May 2022 as California Fairgrounds Appreciation Month in appreciation for the services provided to California by the 76 fairgrounds in the state; and be it furtherResolved, That the Legislature extends its warmest regards and appreciation to the thousands of volunteers, fair directors, staff, business supporters, and sponsors who keep the network of California state fairgrounds strong, vibrant, relevant, and successful; and be it furtherResolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly transmit copies of this resolution to the author for appropriate distribution.

This measure would designate the month of May 2022 as California Fairgrounds Appreciation Month and would extend the Legislatures warmest regards and appreciation to the thousands of volunteers, fair directors, staff, business supporters, and sponsors who keep the network of California state fairgrounds strong, vibrant, relevant, and successful.

WHEREAS, Californias 76 state fairgrounds serve the entire state, from the County of San Diego to the County of Del Norte, and from the County of Monterey to the County of Mariposa; and

WHEREAS, California state fairgrounds attract millions of visitors for fairs and events; and

WHEREAS, California counties enjoy the year-round economic, recreational, cultural, and social impacts of the fairgrounds; and 

WHEREAS, California state fairgrounds expend and generate hundreds of millions of new dollars for nonprofit organizations, youth organizations, cities and counties, small businesses, and the states General Fund; and

WHEREAS, Due to the effects of COVID-19 and wildfires, California state fairgrounds were again pressed into service for COVID-19 medical sites, staging for emergency equipment and emergency personnel, and fire evacuations to assist those displaced by the wildfires that ravaged the state; and

Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, the Senate thereof concurring, That the Legislature hereby designates the month of May 2022 as California Fairgrounds Appreciation Month in appreciation for the services provided to California by the 76 fairgrounds in the state; and be it further

Resolved, That the Legislature extends its warmest regards and appreciation to the thousands of volunteers, fair directors, staff, business supporters, and sponsors who keep the network of California state fairgrounds strong, vibrant, relevant, and successful; and be it further

Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly transmit copies of this resolution to the author for appropriate distribution.
