Existing law establishes the Department of Transportation and provides that the Director of Transportation shall perform all duties, exercise all powers and jurisdiction, assume and discharge all responsibilities, and carry out and effect all purposes vested by law in the department, except as otherwise provided by law.This bill would require the director to appoint a Chief Advisor on Bicycling and Active Transportation, to serve as the departments primary advisor on all issues related to bicycle transportation, safety, and infrastructure, as specified.
