WHEREAS, Congress and the President of the United States have1
designated May 15 as Peace Officers' Memorial Day and the week in2
which it falls as National Police Week; and3
WHEREAS, The members of the law enforcement agencies within4
the state of Colorado play an essential role in safeguarding the rights and5
freedoms of the citizens of the state of Colorado; and6
WHEREAS, It is important that all citizens of Colorado know and7
understand the duties, responsibilities, and challenges of their peace8
officers; and9

-11- WHEREAS, It is fitting and appropriate for the citizens of1
Colorado to join together in commemorating peace officers, past and2
present, who by their faithful and loyal devotion to their responsibilities3
have rendered a dedicated service to their community and, in doing so,4
have established for themselves an enviable and enduring reputation for5
preserving the rights and security of all citizens; now, therefore,6
Be It Resolved by the Senate of the Seventy-third General7
Assembly of the State of Colorado, the House of Representatives8
concurring herein:9
(1)  That we, the members of the General Assembly, hereby10
proclaim the week commencing March 11, 2022, as Police Week in11
Colorado, in recognition of peace officers' efforts in safeguarding the12
citizens of Colorado, and call upon all citizens of the state and upon all13
patriotic, civic, and educational organizations to observe Police Week;14
and15
(2)  That we hereby proclaim the day of March 15, 2022, as Peace16
Officers' Memorial Day in recognition of those officers who, through17
their courageous deeds, have made the supreme sacrifice or who have18
been disabled in the line of duty, and call upon the citizens of Colorado19
to recognize and participate in the observance of this worthy occasion.20
