ONCERNING RECOGNITION OF SINGLE PARENT DAY IN COLORADO.101
WHEREAS, The greatest need of every child is to be loved; and1
WHEREAS, Parents invest an immeasurable amount of time,2
energy, and devotion to raise their children and to provide them with the3
support and guidance required to become responsible, productive, and4
successful adults; and5
WHEREAS, The responsibility of raising children is particularly6
difficult when it falls on the shoulders of a single parent, whether it be7
due to divorce, death, or any other circumstance; and8
WHEREAS, According to U.S. Census data, almost a quarter of9
U.S. families with children under 18 years of age are single-parent10
families, amounting to over 10 million households. In 2020, nearly 1911
million children were living in single-parent families in the United States;12
and13
WHEREAS, The dedication and achievements of single parents14
deserve respect and recognition; and15

March 21 as "National Single Parent Day"; now, therefore,2
Be It Resolved by the Senate of the Seventy-fourth General3
Assembly of the State of Colorado:4
That we, the members of the Colorado Senate, continue to5
designate March 21 as "Single Parent Day in Colorado" in respectful6
recognition of single parents in Colorado.7
Be It Further Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be sent to8
Janice S. Moglen, longtime Colorado advocate for Single Parent Day.9
