C ONCERNING A REQUIREMENT THAT A CORONER BE CERTIFIED BY THE AMERICAN BOARD OF MEDICOLEGAL DEATH INVESTIGATORS OR THE AMERICAN BOARD OF PATHOLOGY IN FORENSIC PATHOLOGY . Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado: SECTION 1. In Colorado Revised Statutes, 30-10-601.5, amend (1)(b) and (1)(c); and add (1)(d) as follows: 30-10-601.5. Qualifications - fingerprints. (1) A person is eligible to hold the office of coroner if the person: (b) Has earned a high school diploma or its equivalent or a college degree; and (c) Has given a set of fingerprints in accordance with subsection (2) of this section; AND NOTE: This bill has been prepared for the signatures of the appropriate legislative officers and the Governor. (d) FOR A CORONER ELECTED ON OR AFTER NOVEMBER 5, 2024, IN A COUNTY WITH A POPULATION GREATER THAN ONE HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND , IS A DEATH INVESTIGATOR CERTIFIED BY AND IN GOOD STANDING WITH THE AMERICAN BOARD OF MEDICOLEGAL DEATH INVESTIGATORS OR IS A FORENSIC PATHOLOGIST CERTIFIED BY AND IN GOOD STANDING WITH THE AMERICAN BOARD OF PATHOLOGY . SECTION 2. Act subject to petition - effective date.
