The bill aligns Medicaid terminology in current law. It does not require additional work for state or local agencies. Appropriation Summary: No appropriation is required. Fiscal Note Status: The final fiscal note reflects the enacted bill. Summary of Legislation Current law refers to a “recipient,” “client,” or “member” interchangeably when referring to an individual who is enrolled in the state medical assistance program (Medicaid). The bill aligns terminology to “member” when referring to an individual who is enrolled in Medicaid. Assessment of No Fiscal Impact The Department of Health Care Policy and Financing currently refers to these individuals as “members” in practice and communication. The bill does not require any additional work for the agency and is assessed as having no fiscal impact. Effective Date The bill was signed into law by the Governor on May 1, 2024, and takes effect on August 7, 2024, assuming no referendum petition is filed.
