It minimally increases state workload in FY 2024-25 only. Appropriation Summary: No appropriation is required. Fiscal Note Status: The final fiscal note reflects the enacted bill. Summary of Legislation The bill requires the Department of Human Services to oversee the operation of host home programs. The bill sets requirements for organizations seeking to operate a host home program and requirements for individuals operating host homes through a host home program. State Expenditures As the Department of Human Services currently oversees and regulates licensed host family homes and other voluntary alternative residences for youth, workload will minimally increase to update existing rules to conform with any new provisions required by the bill. This workload is expected to be minimal and can be accomplished within existing resources. Effective Date The bill was signed into law by the Governor on May 22, 2024, and takes effect on August 7, 2024, assuming no referendum petition is filed.
