The bill minimally impacts state workload for FY 2024-25 and FY 2025-26. Appropriation Summary: No appropriation is required. Fiscal Note Status: The fiscal note reflects the introduced bill, which was recommended by the Joint Budget Committee. Summary of Legislation The bill repeals and recreates the Office of Administrative Services for Independent Agencies (ASIA) in the Judicial Department, which was created by Senate Bill 23-228. Current law contemplates a transition of administrative support and services from the Judicial Department to ASIA by June 30, 2024. Among other changes, the bill extends deadlines by one year. Background House Bill 24-1430, the Long Bill for FY 2024-25, includes a General Fund appropriation of $665,216 and 6.0 FTE to ASIA. The director is charged with building a resource needs assessment and submitting an associated budget request. State Expenditures The bill may increase workload to the Judicial Department to the extent it provides administrative support services to independent agencies for a longer period of time than under current law. Any impact from assignment of technical support liaisons from other state agencies is expected to be minimal. No change in appropriations is required.
