Fiscal Note
Status:
The final fiscal note reflects the enacted bill, which was recommended by the Joint
Budget Committee.
Summary of Legislation
The bill repeals and recreates the Office of Administrative Services for Independent Agencies
(ASIA) in the Judicial Department, which was created by Senate Bill 23-228. Current law
contemplates a transition of administrative support and services from the Judicial Department to
ASIA by June 30, 2024. Among other changes, the bill extends deadlines by one year.
Background
House Bill 24-1430, the Long Bill for FY 2024-25, includes a General Fund appropriation of
$665,216 and 6.0 FTE to ASIA. The director is charged with building a resource needs assessment
and submitting an associated budget request.
State Expenditures
The bill may increase workload to the Judicial Department to the extent it provides
administrative support services to independent agencies for a longer period of time than under
current law. Any impact from assignment of technical support liaisons from other state agencies
is expected to be minimal. No change in appropriations is required. Page 2
