Summary of Legislation
Under current law, Colorado State University (CSU) may collect certain fees from either
308 students who are enrolled in their College of Veterinary Medicine, or if enrollment exceeds
548, 45 percent of the total veterinary medicine enrollment, whichever is greater. The bill
eliminates the cap on the number of students for whom CSU may assess fees for attending the
College of Veterinary Medicine, and also removes other financial limitations on the veterinary
medicine program.
Institutions of Higher Education
CSU may have increased revenues and expenditures to educate additional students who enroll
in the College of Veterinary Medicine. The additional tuition revenues are not subject to TABOR
and any additional expenditures to train the additional students will be funded through
university tuition revenues. No state appropriation is required.
Effective Date
The bill takes effect 90 days following adjournment of the General Assembly sine die, assuming
no referendum petition is filed.
