The report must be submitted within 90 days of the final committee meeting of the 2025 interim. The bill allows the committee to meet an additional two times in the 2025 interim. State Expenditures The bill increases state expenditures in the Legislative Department by about $5,000 in FY 2025-26 only. The bill also minimally affects workload in the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF) and the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA). Legislative Department The ten legislators on the task force are eligible for per diem and reimbursement of expenses for the additional two meetings that occur outside of the legislative session. Costs are paid from the General Fund. Other Agency Impacts Workload in HCPF and DORA may increase to assist the committee in studying billing practices and producing the report. This work depends on scope of the study and is expected to be absorbable within existing appropriations. If workload increases materially, expenditures will be addressed through the annual budget process. Effective Date The bill takes effect 90 days following adjournment of the General Assembly sine die, assuming no referendum petition is filed.
