Summary of Legislation
The bill makes an exception to the requirement that a member of the Colorado State Patrol
(CSP) give a surety bond to the state if the CSP is self-insured through the Colorado State Office
of Risk Management, as it is currently.
Assessment of No Fiscal Impact
The bill updates state law to allow CSP officers to be covered by the Office of Risk Management.
As CSP is unable to acquire third-party surety bonds, this codifies current practice, and results in
no change to state or local government revenue or expenditures. For this reason, the bill is
assessed as having no fiscal impact.
Effective Date
The bill takes effect 90 days following adjournment of the General Assembly sine die, assuming
no referendum petition is filed.
