ONCERNING THE COMMEMORATION OF WORLD HIJAB DAY.101
WHEREAS, The hijab, a traditional veil that covers a woman's1
hair and chest, has been very important to the history of Islam and is2
meant to promote dignity and respect for women while maintaining3
modesty and respect for religious faith; and4
WHEREAS, World Hijab Day encourages women of different5
cultures who do not normally wear the hijab to experience wearing one6
for the day, and its purpose is to encourage religious tolerance, cultural7
understanding, and international solidarity; and8
WHEREAS, Since its inception, women from all over the world9
have participated in World Hijab Day, and to combat prejudice, leaders10
in the American Muslim community are working tirelessly to show that11
wearing the hijab is a choice, a freedom, and a blessing; and12
WHEREAS, Wearing the hijab educates our fellow citizens about13
Islam in ways that are relevant and meaningful; and14
WHEREAS, The Colorado Senate honors the important events that15
