AN ACT CONCERNING IMPLEMENTATION OF CULTURALLY AND LINGUISTICALLY APPROPRIATE STANDARDS IN HEALTH CARE SETTINGS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 368a of the general statutes be amended to provide that the Department of Public Health shall require any provider or institution licensed by the department that is a recipient of federal funds to adopt and adhere to the Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Standards issued by the United States Department Health and Human Services' Office of Minority Health. Statement of Purpose: To require the Department of Public Health to ensure that state health care providers and institutions adopt federally prescribed Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Standards in order to mitigate the adverse effects that certain populations face when accessing health care services, thereby improving the quality of health and life for all residents.
