AN ACT CONCERNING THE USE OF AUTOMATIC EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATORS IN HEALTH CARE SETTINGS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That title 19a of the general statutes be amended to provide that all licensed dialysis facilities, outpatient surgical facilities, residential care homes and assisted living services agencies have at least one automatic external defibrillator or a functionally equivalent device on its premises, or in the case of an assisted living services agency, readily available to agency personnel. Such defibrillator or device shall be generally accessible in an emergency by any person trained in its use. Such entities shall minimally employ at least one person trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of an automatic external defibrillator. Statement of Purpose: To require the presence of automated external defibrillators or functionally equivalent devices in those areas where episodes of cardiac arrest are most likely to occur.
