AN ACT REQUIRING LIFETIME RETENTION OF ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORDS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 19a-25c of the general statutes be amended to establish a lifetime record retention requirement for any health care provider or institution utilizing an electronic medical records system. 

Statement of Purpose: 

To ensure the preservation of a patient's medical history when recorded electronically.
