AN ACT INCREASING ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION FOR INMATES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2011) The Department of Correction shall establish, within available appropriations, a pilot program to provide inmates, as defined in section 18-84 of the general statutes, with the opportunity to pursue undergraduate degrees online. For purposes of establishing such pilot program, the Department of Correction shall seek any available private or federal funds.
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:
