AN ACT CONCERNING HOME AND COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICES FOR PERSONS WITH ACQUIRED BRAIN INJURY.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. Section 17b-260a of the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective from passage):

(a) The Commissioner of Social Services shall seek a waiver from federal law to establish a Medicaid-financed, home and community-based program for individuals with acquired brain injury. [Such waiver shall be submitted no later than October 1, 1995.]

(b) Not later than October 1, 2011, the commissioner shall amend the waiver submitted in accordance with subsection (a) of this section to provide home and community-based services for individuals with acquired brain injury who have been on the waiting list to receive such services for a period of two years or more.

Statement of Purpose: 

To ensure that persons who suffer from brain injuries and have been on the waiting list to receive home and community-based services, receive such services without having to wait more than two years.
