AN ACT CONCERNING PRECIOUS METAL AND STONE DEALERS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 409 of the general statutes be amended to provide that precious metal and stone dealers shall retain goods they have purchased for a specified period of time before reselling such goods.

Statement of Purpose: 

To allow law enforcement agencies sufficient time to track down and recover stolen jewelry and other goods by requiring precious metal and stone dealers to keep goods they purchase for a specified period of time before reselling them as is required of pawnbrokers.
