AN ACT CREATING STRATEGIC PLANS FOR PASSENGER AND FREIGHT RAIL SERVICE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to require the Department of Transportation to create and submit to the General Assembly, on or before January 1, 2012, long-term, comprehensive, integrated strategic plans for (1) local and regional passenger rail service, focusing on improving rail transport and recommending improvements and interconnection between rail, road, airline and marine travel modes, and (2) coordination with the former, freight rail service.
Statement of Purpose:
To create long-term strategic plans for freight and passenger rail service in the state.
