AN ACT REQUIRING THE CREATION OF STRATEGIC PLANS FOR PASSENGER AND FREIGHT RAIL SERVICE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. (Effective from passage) On or before January 1, 2012, the Department of Transportation shall develop and submit to the General Assembly, in accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a of the general statutes, long-term, comprehensive, integrated and strategic plans for (1) local and regional passenger rail service, focusing on the improvement of rail transport and the recommendation of improvements and interconnection among rail, highway, air and marine modes of travel, and (2) coordination of such passenger rail service with former freight rail service.
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

To create long-term strategic plans for passenger and freight rail service in Connecticut.
