AN ACT CONCERNING A CLARIFICATION IN THE DETERMINATION OF PARTY AND DISTRICT ENROLLMENT FOR THE PURPOSES OF FILING OF CANDIDACIES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That subsection (a) of section 9-400 of the general statutes be amended to be consistent with subsection (c) of said section 9-400 requiring that a candidacy for nomination by a political party to a state office may only be filed by or on behalf of a person whose name appears upon the latest enrollment records for the district in the office of the Secretary of the State prior to the earliest date that primary petitions are available.

Statement of Purpose: 

To clarify and make consistent that a candidacy for nomination by a political party to a state office may only be filed by or on behalf of a person whose name appears upon the latest enrollment records for the district in the office of the Secretary of the State prior to the earliest date that primary petitions were available.
