Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That a Commission on Reentry be established to perform a broad overview of the criminal and community justice system, adopt a common vision, examine every aspect of the current system including the initial assessment and case management of offenders upon their entrance into the correctional system, the transition of offenders from correctional institutions into the community, post-release supervision and management practices with the goal to determine whether current policies and practices reflect the philosophy of a sustained and progressive path to offender success, reduced recidivism and increased public safety. Statement of Purpose: To establish a Commission on Reentry to determine if current policies and practices for the reintegration of offenders into the community achieve the goals of offender success, reduced recidivism and increased public safety.
