AN ACT CONCERNING THE MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT FUND.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to permit employees of small businesses and nonprofit organizations and other individuals to enroll in the Municipal Employees' Retirement Fund, provided such employees or other individuals make the same contributions as municipal employees, and to qualify for pensions under the same terms as municipal employees.

Statement of Purpose: 

To help Connecticut businesses be competitive and ensure a secure retirement for working people in Connecticut.
