AN ACT INCREASING THE FINE FOR OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE WITHOUT SUFFICIENT INSURANCE. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That section 14-213b of the general statutes be amended to increase the fine for operating a private passenger motor vehicle or a vehicle with a combination registration without the security required by statute or with insufficient security, from a minimum of one hundred dollars and maximum of one thousand dollars to five hundred dollars and one thousand five hundred dollars, respectively. Statement of Purpose: To increase the fine for operating a private passenger motor vehicle or a vehicle with a combination registration without the security required by statute or with insufficient security, from a minimum of $100 and maximum of $1,000 to $500 and $1,500, respectively.
