AN ACT REQUIRING MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATORS TO REMAIN AT LEAST FIVE HUNDRED FEET BEHIND AN AMBULANCE THAT IS USING FLASHING LIGHTS OR A SIREN. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to provide that any person operating a nonemergency motor vehicle behind an ambulance, when such ambulance is using its flashing lights or siren, shall remain at least five hundred feet behind such ambulance. Statement of Purpose: To help increase the safety of ambulances responding to emergency situations by prohibiting motor vehicle operators from tailgating such ambulances.
