AN ACT REQUIRING THE IMMEDIATE NOTIFICATION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES AND THE ACTION OF SAID DEPARTMENT WITH RESPECT TO CERTAIN OUT-OF-STATE MOTOR VEHICLE CONVICTIONS OF PERSONS WHO HAVE A CONNECTICUT MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR'S LICENSE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 14-111n of the general statutes be amended to require any person with a Connecticut motor vehicle operator's license who is convicted of a serious motor violation in another state to notify the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) within thirty days and to require the DMV to concurrently penalize such persons within thirty days of receiving such notice.

Statement of Purpose:

To reduce the period of time that elapses from an out-of-state motor vehicle conviction of a driver licensed in Connecticut until such driver is penalized in the state.
