AN ACT ELIMINATING RETIREMENT AND HEALTH BENEFITS FOR NEWLY-ELECTED STATE LEGISLATORS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapters 16, 66 and 67 of the general statutes be amended to eliminate all benefits under the state employees retirement system and any group hospitalization and medical and surgical insurance plan under section 5-259 of the general statutes for any member of the General Assembly elected to a term commencing on or after January 5, 2011, who has not previously served in the General Assembly prior to such date. Statement of Purpose: To eliminate state health and retirement benefits for newly-elected state legislators assuming office on or after January 5, 2011.
