Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That section 53a-20 of the general statutes be amended to provide that there shall be a presumption that the belief of a person while in his or her dwelling that the use of deadly physical force is necessary to defend himself or herself or another person, or to prevent a trespasser from committing arson or a crime of violence, or to prevent or terminate an unlawful entry by force into such person's dwelling, is a reasonable belief. Statement of Purpose: To permit homeowners to protect themselves and family members from intrusion without fear of prosecution.
