AN ACT ESTABLISHING AN UMBILICAL CORD BLOOD COLLECTION PROGRAM.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to create the Connecticut Umbilical Cord Blood Collection Program to facilitate and promote the collection of units of umbilical cord blood for public use in transplantation and medical research. Such program shall be overseen by an independent board with the authority to enter into contracts, raise funds, accept contributions, apply for and accept public and private grant money and, within available resources, hire staff to carry out its statutory purpose.

Statement of Purpose: 

To establish a public umbilical cord blood collection program in Connecticut.
