AN ACT CONCERNING DISABILITY COMPENSATION FOR VETERANS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to provide that service-related disability compensation received by a veteran or member of the armed forces from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs shall not be considered income or property for the purposes of property disposition, spousal or child support obligations and attachment in any marital dissolution, legal or equitable proceeding.

Statement of Purpose: 

To provide, in accordance with federal law, that the service-related disability compensation received by a veteran is excluded from property and income calculations in court proceedings.
