AN ACT CONCERNING A SWOT ANALYSIS FOR THE STATE'S INSURANCE AND FINANCIAL SERVICES CLUSTER.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to require the insurance and financial services cluster, with technical assistance from the Department of Economic and Community Development's Office of Insurance and Financial Services, to prepare an annual strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) analysis for the state's insurance and financial services sector that recommends (1) collaborative actions the businesses comprising the cluster can take to address the sector's weaknesses, opportunities and threats, and (2) policy options the state can adopt to strengthen the cluster.

Statement of Purpose:

To require cluster policy be grounded in empirical information and analysis so that decision makers can make objective assessments about the nature, competitive prospects and specific needs of different regional industry concentrations.
