(By Request) AN ACT CONCERNING VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS AND AMBULANCE SERVICE VOLUNTEERS EMPLOYED IN THE STATE. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That subsections (a) and (c) of section 5-249 of the general statutes be amended to allow any person who is employed in the state and who is an active volunteer firefighter or a member of a volunteer ambulance service or company to leave work in order to respond to fire calls or ambulance calls during such employee's regular hours of employment without loss of pay, vacation time, sick leave or earned overtime accumulation. Statement of Purpose: To increase the number of active volunteer firefighters and members of volunteer ambulance services and companies available to respond to fire and ambulance calls.
