AN ACT CONCERNING SPEEDY TRIALS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 54-82m of the general statutes be amended to provide that, in any case in which a plea of not guilty is entered and the defendant is incarcerated in a correctional institution pending trial, in no event shall the trial of the defendant commence later than twenty-four months from the date of arrest.
Statement of Purpose:
To expedite the criminal justice process without loss of constitutional rights.
