AN ACT CONCERNING SERVICE OF PROCESS BY CONSTABLES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. Section 7-89 of the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective October 1, 2011):
Constables shall have the power in [their towns] the judicial districts in which they reside to serve and execute all lawful process legally directed to them and shall be liable for any neglect or unfaithfulness in their office.
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

Statement of Purpose:
To authorize constables to serve process within the judicial district in which they reside.
