AN ACT CONCERNING DESECRATION OF WAR OR VETERANS' MEMORIALS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. Subsection (e) of section 46a-58 of the 2012 supplement to the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective from passage):

(e) Any person who violates any provision of this section shall be guilty of a class A misdemeanor, except that if property is damaged as a consequence of such violation in an amount in excess of one thousand dollars, such person shall be guilty of a class D felony. The fine under this subsection shall be doubled and the court shall require full restitution for all costs of repair and replacement of the property damaged in violation of this section if that property is a war or veterans' memorial or monument.

To increase the penalties for the intentional desecration of war or veterans' memorials.
