AN ACT CONCERNING THE DISMISSAL OF DEPUTY CHIEFS OF POLICE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2012) No deputy chief of any police department of any town, city or borough shall be dismissed except by the chief of such police department with the approval of the authority having the power of appointment of the chief of such police department.

 


This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

Statement of Purpose: 

To prohibit the dismissal of a deputy chief of police except by the chief of police with the approval of the authority that appoints the chief of police for that town.
