AN ACT REQUIRING A TWO-THIRDS VOTE TO ENACT NEW MUNICIPAL MANDATES. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 16 of the general statutes be amended to require the approval by a vote of at least two-thirds of the members of each house of the General Assembly for the enactment of any new unfunded mandate to local governments. Statement of Purpose: To require a two-thirds vote of the General Assembly before a new municipal mandate can be enacted in order to reduce unfunded mandates.
