AN ACT REQUIRING REFUNDS FOR DAMAGED AND DEFECTIVE GOODS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective January 1, 2014) Notwithstanding the provisions of chapter 735c of the general statutes, any person engaged in trade or commerce in this state shall accept returned goods and issue a full cash or credit refund to the person returning the goods, provided the goods are: (1) Damaged or not functioning properly at the time of purchase, and (2) returned not more than two business days after purchase. 

 


This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

Statement of Purpose: 

To protect consumers by requiring retailers to give refunds for damaged and defective items.
