AN ACT REQUIRING ACCESSIBLE HOUSING IN SET-ASIDE DEVELOPMENTS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 8-30g of the general statutes be amended to require that (1) one-sixth of the affordable units in a set-aside development be built to accommodate persons with disabilities and to include wider doorways and hallways and ground-level entrances or ramps, and (2) all sidewalks constructed in a set-aside development be wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs and sufficiently illuminated for safety. 

Statement of Purpose: 

To enhance accessibility and safety within affordable housing developments.
