AN ACT CONCERNING HIGH CAPACITY FIREARMS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to: (1) Prohibit an individual from possessing a fully automatic or semiautomatic assault weapon unless such person is a peace officer or a member of the armed forces; (2) prohibit an individual from possessing a large capacity ammunition feeding device that holds more than ten rounds of ammunition; and (3) provide fair compensation to owners of banned weapons.
Statement of Purpose:
To protect public safety by reducing the number of high capacity firearms in circulation.
