AN ACT INCREASING THE TAX ON CIGARETTES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That chapter 214 of the general statutes be amended to increase the tax on cigarettes by ninety-five cents.
Statement of Purpose:
To match the tax on cigarettes in New York, improve public health, reduce smoking rates and help cover the costs of treating smoking-related illness.
