AN ACT CONCERNING PRESCRIPTIONS FOR CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES AND USE OF THE CONNECTICUT PRESCRIPTION MONITORING AND REPORTING SYSTEM. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That title 21a of the general statutes be amended to require a health care provider, who prescribes a controlled substance, to review the Department of Consumer Protection's Connecticut Prescription Monitoring and Reporting System for the patient's previous history of controlled substance use, if any, before prescribing a controlled substance to the patient. Statement of Purpose: To ensure health care providers are fully aware of patients' history of controlled drug use prior to prescribing controlled substances.
