AN ACT REQUIRING CERTIFICATION FOR CERTAIN HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS WHO PROVIDE EXPERT TESTIMONY IN MEDICAL MALPRACTICE CASES. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That title 20 of the general statutes be amended to require health care providers who are not licensed as physicians in the state and who intend to testify as expert witnesses in medical malpractice actions pursuant to section 52-184c of the general statutes to obtain a certificate from the Department of Public Health. Statement of Purpose: To increase the level of accountability for physicians who are licensed in another state and who testify in this state as expert witnesses in medical malpractice cases.
