AN ACT CONCERNING HEARING ASSESSMENTS FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 10-206 of the general statutes be amended to require health assessments for pupils in fifth and eighth grades to include a hearing test at frequencies of three thousand to six thousand hertz and screening at twenty decibels, to be increased to twenty-five decibels only if the pupil fails at the lower level.
Statement of Purpose:
To improve identification of noise-induced hearing loss in middle school students.
