AN ACT CONCERNING PHYSICIAN'S ORDERS FOR LIFE SUSTAINING TREATMENT.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 19a-595 of the general statutes be amended to allow persons determined to have less than one year to live to establish, with their physician, physician's orders for life sustaining treatment to convey detailed directions concerning their wishes for end-of-life medical care.

Statement of Purpose: 

To allow patients determined to have less than one year to live to establish more complete and binding end-of-life medical care directions, which are converted to a set of portable medical orders.
