AN ACT ESTABLISHING TOLLS AT CONNECTICUT'S BORDERS AND REDUCING THE GASOLINE TAX.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That (1) the Department of Transportation immediately initiate all actions necessary for the establishment of electronic tolls at the state's borders, (2) commencing July 1, 2013, and monthly thereafter, the Commissioner of Transportation submit a progress report on such actions taken during the preceding month to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to transportation, and (3) the general statutes be amended to reduce the gasoline tax by fifty per cent over the four-year period commencing after the establishment of such electronic tolls.

Statement of Purpose: 

To establish tolls at Connecticut's borders to create a source of revenue for the Special Transportation Fund and to reduce the gasoline tax.
