AN ACT REQUIRING ACCESSIBLE UNITS IN AFFORDABLE HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 8-30g of the general statutes be amended to require that one-sixth of the affordable units in a set-aside development be constructed so as to be accessible to persons with disabilities and to include wider doorways and hallways and ground level entrances or ramps, and to further require all sidewalk areas in such developments to be wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs and sufficiently illuminated for safety.
Statement of Purpose:
To enhance accessibility and safety within affordable housing developments.
